Carine is a cross-cultural trauma psychologist and a published researcher with over 18 years’ experience working with mental health across the private practice, public, organisational and community services sectors.
Throughout her career, Carine has worked with diverse traumatised populations such as veterans, refugees, young people leaving foster care, adult survivors of childhood trauma, emotional neglect, traumatic grief & loss, work related psychological injury, sexual abuse, victims of intimate partner and family violence, among others.
Carine strives to meet individual needs by using a warm, non-judgemental and empathetic approach based on an ethical and strong therapeutical alliance. She works collaboratively with the client and stakeholders involved aiming to foster resilience, post-traumatic psychological growth (PTG), and flourishing.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the UNSW and First-Class Honours A in Psychological Sciences from ACAP. Carine has also received intensive training in psychodynamic therapy and cognitive behaviour therapy intervention from the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo (PUC-SP) and is currently completing her certification in Schema Therapy with the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST).
Carine is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA) and is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS), the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (MAAPi) and the International Association of Applied Neuroscience (MIAAN). She is also a Board-approved (PSyBA) supervisor working with provisionally and generally registered psychologists.
Carine is competent at administering psychometric and medico-legal assessments.
She is a Medicare and Private Health Fund provider, however she does not accept bulk billing, WorkCover or Victim Services claims.
